This family run business now has 14 locations in Arizona and a couple in Las Vegas. They have a huge selection of classic Mexican food items. And you still have a couple of days to get in and celebrate their 65th Anniversary (every day in September). You can get their very famous Chimichanga for only $6.50. My friend and I ordered an extra order of rice and split one. They are HUGE.

They also have kids meals for $1.65 and you can get one of their Margarita mugs for only $6.50…and take it home with you!

One of the favorites is  the Chicken Poblano. A chili filled with chicken and other yummy stuff. It’s REALLY GOOD.

The also have lunch specials…smaller portions and smaller prices.

My husband joined up for the Movie Club and got a screening pass for the AMC Dine-In Theatre in Phoenix at the Esplanade 14.  So last night was a dinner and a movie night out for us.  It was very nice and such fun to experience an event before it opens to the public.  The Grand Opening is September 7th so mark your calendars and go see a movie!

We went to see the movie “Limitless” and had a great time.  If you have never been to the Esplanade you should make the trip.  Great restauarants and plenty of shopping.  Now you can have dinner and a movie together!  What a great concept.  I love to go to the movies and usually my husband and I make it a date night and plan a dinner out as well.  We decide up front if we want to eat first or after but sometimes we find our selves running late and have to hurry our dinner for fear of missing the beginning of our show.  This solved all of that!  The theatre had a well thought out menu with appetizers, sandwhiches, salads and dinner entrees.  Even some delectable desserts, and even though I wanted to – I chose not to have one.   Next time I will, the Chocolate Loving Spooncake looked amazing!

We took our 13 year old son and he said it was very cool!  He had the Chicken Alfredo, said it was thumbs up, my husband had the Smoked Brisket Quesadillas and ate all of it and I had a Mushroom and Baby Swiss Burger with Fries.  Cooked perfectly!  Our server Richard did a great job and was very attentive.  However, if you need anything during the movie you can push a red button next to your chair and your server will come right out to you.  Nice!

The theatre has two types of experiences.

One is the FORK and SCREEN that offers:

• Delicious food and cocktails
• Upgraded seates in a big -screen theatre
• Reserved seating
• Seat-side servie
• Guests are over the age of 18 or accompanied by an adult

and the other is CINEMA SUITES

• Upscale theatre with an enhanced menu
• Individual luxury recliners in an intimate environment
• Reserved seating
• Seat-side service
• First-class amenities such as a gourmet popcorn sample and more
• Guests are 21 and over

There is also a cocktail lounge MACGUFFINS so you can meet friends before the show or swing by after to mingle.

We had the pleasure of being guests of some GREAT friends on a recent visit there. And what a treat it was. We all ordered something different. Salmon, filet, shrimp and prime rib. And it all ROCKED!

The quality was impressive…and the portions generous. My husband rarely asks for a “doggie bag”…but really…he could not get it done! The ‘Baron’s Cut” was really cut for a BARON. (I had the pleasure of helping him eating it the next day)!

I chose shrimp…I know…not conventional for a steak house…but my fav. And they were the size of my palm. HUGE and yummy.

They also have Wild Wild West Seasonal Specials. Like elk and pike. Check it out…

Really…there was absolutely nothing to complain about at all. It was a great night with great friends. THANKS SKIP AND JACKIE! Next time…it’s our treat!  :)

They have some of the most interesting concoctions I have ever heard of…and the ones I sampled were AWESOME. They give you samples…like Red Rose Vodka…or Birthday Cake Bailey’s I was REALLY hoping for Limoncello…which they do make…but they switch up their offerings monthly…and this was not the right month.

Folks can purchase Lee’s Cream with or without alcohol…so you can take the kids as well…and find something for everyone.

It is a very small place…but nicely decorated and the location could not be better for local foot traffic. And the young people working there were informative and friendly. They were also accommodating in offering as many “tastes” as I wanted.

I settled on Peanut Parfait Bourbon…but I will say it was a hard choice. They post the flavors of the month for passerby to check out… know these are just a couple of the amazing choices you would find inside.

I was in downtown Scottsdale over the weekend and when I was walking around it really brought me back. When I moved to the Metro Phoenix Area in 1979 Scottsdale was a nice, quiet sleepy little town. Now it is an incrediable mix of dining, shopping and entertainment! Something that has not changed however…is The Sugar Bowl.

The Pepto Pink building has been there ever since I can remember…and has not changed much. It is still a place for a quick meal…a sweet treat and prime people watching. In the heart of Scottsdale, AZ…it is located in an area the locals call Old Town.  Right across the street you will find this sidewalk map where you can take a self guided tour back in time…and The Sugar Bowl was there back in time.

They offer a wide range of sandwiches…but most folks stop in for ice cream! You can check out their menu here. This is for sure a place for the kids as well. They have what they term the FIESTA…which is a large room for the kids to play a variety of games.

I shot a quick video to give you the feel for the place. If you are in Scottsdale you really should go in,,,have a root beer float…grab a window seat…and watch the world go by!
