McDowell Mountain Hiking
When I think of hiking, I don’t always think of the desert, but I can assure you one of the most beautiful hikes you will ever take is right in our backyard.
The McDowell Mountain hiking trails located just off Thompson Peak Parkway north of Bell Rd has many different trails to offer. You can make it as strenuous or as relaxed as you like by choosing the trail that best suits you. The trails are well groomed and easy to navigate. Beautiful views of million dollar homes and cactus filled valley’s are breathtaking.
McDowell Mountain Park has over 40 miles of hiking, mtn biking and horseback riding trails. A less strenuous trail for beginners is the North Trail which is about 3.1 miles. If you are looking for a good workout, one of the more strenuous trails is Pemberton at a bit over 15 miles.
The trailhead has great maps and clean restrooms. Animals are welcome. There are many park events such as storytelling, fitness hikes, moonlight hikes, etc, so check out the link below to find one that suits you.
