National Safe Boating Week (May 15-21)
When people think of Arizona, most picture rolling tumbleweed and a dry, barren landscape. Most are shocked to know that Arizona has over 30 lakes! Four are within an hour’s drive of Phoenix.
I have a cousin that has just recently moved to Arizona from Northern California, where he did an extreme amount of hunting and fishing. Of course that is a great area for it. He was concerned about whether he was going to be able to find places to continue those activities in Arizona. Much to his surprise (and joy) he was overwhelmed with places to fish and hunt. He has taken many day trips “scouting out” his new fishing and hunting places. He has already obtained his hunting tags for elk and found more fishing places than he knows what to do with!
If you visit http://www.arizona-leisure.com/arizona-lakes.html all of the lakes will be listed and shown on a map. This website also tells what the lakes are primarily used for. May 15th to May 21st is National Safe Boating Week and I see the boats all over the roads now. The weather is warming up and school is getting out…summer has arrived and what better way to enjoy it than to visit one of our beautiful lakes?
